Grey is officially two and my heart just doesn’t quite know how to handle that. On the one hand I can’t imagine life without him but on the other hand I feel like I’m still getting used to having him here. I think that’s because I’m constantly learning new things.
I’m learning how to best navigate a toddler tantrum in the grocery store, I’m learning which boo boos to kiss and which ones to let him be tough. (Spoiler alert: I kiss all of them!) I’m learning how he responds to different things. He hates it when we yell, but he seems to understand when we talk calmly and explain things. So that’s what we do.
He is my first baby and we are learning together. Some days go so well…we have fun, we barely use technology, we play at the park, we take a good nap, we eat all of our meals, we agree to take a bath on the first try, we go to sleep without a fight. Some days don’t go so well. I yell more than I’d like to, I lose my patience too quickly, we watch too much tv, we order pizza for dinner, we fight nap time, bath time and bed time. But the good always, always, outweighs the bad.
This age is so fun. He is talking so much! The other day he went into the other room and said, “Be right back!” and whenever someone leaves the house he says, “See you later!” or “See you soon!”. He also recently started adding an “es” to everything plural. Cars-es, toys-es, socks-es. I have no idea where he got it but it is honestly the cutest thing ever. We were in line at the store the other day and he was standing next to me and I noticed his little car was missing…so I asked where it was and he looked down and said, “in my pocket!” and I just about died. It was adorable. He is turning into a little boy and my heart sometimes can’t take it!
He is such a good kid. We recently went on a little trip and took him to so many different (boring) places and sat through so many meetings and he was such a trooper! He did amazing and was a happy camper the entire time. Everyone kept commenting on how well he was doing and we were just so proud of him. He also went on two more flights and slept through both of them like a champ!
I think this past year went quicker than the first because I cannot believe my baby boy is two. He makes life so much sweeter and I don’t even know what life was before him. I am the luckiest person ever to get to be his Momma and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for this little guy. I wouldn’t mind if time slowed down a bit, though.
Happy 2nd Birthday, Grey Alexander!
We love you!!
