The weather here in Houston is starting to get a little bit nicer! I mean…I still immediately start to sweat the minute I step outside but now it is somewhat tolerable. Good news for our little man because he wants to be outside all day every day. Do toddlers just not feel the sweltering heat/humidity combination that makes me want to stay indoors with the a/c cranked? They must not because this kid would play outside for hours if I let him. However, when there is a little bit of a break in the 90+ degree weather, we like to take him to the different parks we have around here. I remember there were only a few parks in the town I grew up in…all of them a bit uninspired and really nothing special. I am so thankful that there are so many parks around us now and they are all really unique! Tons of different jungle gyms to climb on, (am I the only one that finds them a little bit dangerous?), slides, swings, splash pads, you name it…we have it! The parks definitely make the heat a tiny bit more tolerable!
Getting out and about with a toddler is no small feat. Even just a trip to the park requires so much stuff! Diapers, wipes, water, snacks, toys for the car, toys for the park, shoes, the stroller…I mean the list goes on and on. That is why I have teamed up with OXO Tot today to help make traveling with your toddler a lot easier! They have come out with a set of products to help get you from point A to point B without all of the hassle.
Grey’s favorite by far is this water cup. It is a Transitions Soft Spout Sippy Cup Set and literally grows with your child by changing from a sippy cup with handles to a big kid cup with an open top. It’s really the only cup you need! There are four different stages and right now we have Grey at the “trainer” stage that doesn’t have handles but still has a closed top. It’s not completely closed so there are definitely still some spills…but he can’t just turn the cup over and dump it out!
They also offer a Handy Stroller Hook and I cannot stress the importance of having one of these! I hang my bag on it, I clip my water bottle to it and I even use it to hold our dog’s leash while we are playing at the park!
I’m sure all of you know the consequences of leaving the house without snacks! It is a dreadful moment when your toddler decides he’s hungry and you are empty handed. We make sure to always pack some sort of snack for the park and the Flippy™ Snack Cup with Travel Cover comes in super handy. It has a no spill lid so gone are the days of bunny grahams flying all over the car!
My personal favorite is the On-the-Go Wipes Dispenser with Diaper Pouch! Prior to having this I would just aimlessly throw diapers and wipes into my bag. Then, when I needed one or the other, I would be stuck digging through my purse trying to find them. Not a good situation when you have messy hands that need to be wiped or a stinky diaper! This pouch is great because I always know exactly where it is and it’s super easy to grab if you are running to the bathroom or just heading out for a walk!
(Luckily we didn’t need any diapers at the park this time…but oh boy have we needed them in the past!!)
Have you ever returned home only to find that your snack cup became a dirt cup and your water cup is now a mud cup? Been there! Thankfully OXO Tot has a Cleaning Set For Straw & Sippy Cups complete with four different tools to clean out your cups and to get into all of those tiny crevices that you can’t reach with a regular dish rag.
Last, but certainly not least, is a product for all of you potty training Mommas! Grey isn’t potty trained quite yet but he has recently started to show a little bit of an interest. He will ask to sit on the potty or he will bring a stuffed animal to the bathroom and tell me that the animal has to use the potty. It is the cutest thing ever!
The 2-in-1 Go Potty™ with Travel Bag is great because you can use it on a regular toilet seat or on it’s own. It comes with bags to put over the seat in case there isn’t a toilet nearby and it’s relieving because you won’t have to set your toddler on a nasty public toilet! I can definitely see us getting a ton of use out of this potty in the future.
I’m curious to hear your tips and tricks on getting out of the house with kids! Anything I need to add into our arsenal of “getting out of the house” supplies??
Which product do you think would be the most useful??
