Whenever I look at you, I am flooded with all of the promises I wish to keep throughout your life.
I promise to rock you to sleep as long as you’ll let me.
To hold you in my arms until you don’t want to be held…
and to cuddle you in close whenever you need me to.
I promise to endure your terrible two’s with a smile on my face.
To hold my temper when you color on our walls…
and not to get upset when you accidentally make a mess in the kitchen.
I promise to be strong when you go off to Kindergarten,
not showing you that on the inside my heart is breaking…
so that you will go into your first day confident and brave.
I promise to listen to all of your silly stories,
and to never tune you out…
because I know that no matter how silly,
your voice is important.
I promise to celebrate with you when you make your first team,
or to comfort you if you get cut.
I’ll let you know how proud of you I am, either way.
I promise to attend every play, game, or performance,
to be there in the crowd…
so that when you look out in the sea of faces,
you will always be able to find mine.
I promise to send you off to your eighth grade dance with enthusiasm
(but not too much),
to not take a million embarrassing photos…
and to not ask about all the cuties you may or may not have a crush on.
I promise to be patient when you are learning to drive,
to celebrate with you when you get your license…
and to really enjoy those last big moments as you slowly grow into adulthood.
I promise to pick up the pieces of your first broken heart,
to be a shoulder to cry on…
and to let you know it was their loss, not yours.
I promise to understand if you make mistakes,
to realize that I was there once, too…
and to help you learn from them so that they don’t happen again.
I promise to cheer as loud as I can at your high school graduation,
to celebrate your big achievement with happy tears running down my face…
because as proud of you as I will be, I also know what that next step brings.
I promise that when that time in your life comes,
I will let you go…
I will watch as you go out into the world on your own,
even if it is killing me on the inside.
I promise to give you your space,
to let you write your own story…
and to read that story from a distance.
But my sweet baby Grey,
I will always be here whenever you need me.
No matter how old, no matter what for,
I will be here.
And that is THIS mother’s biggest promise.
I am teaming up with Pampers today to share my promises to Grey. As mom’s we all want what is best for our babies and that is where Pampers Premium Care diapers come in! You guys, these diapers are so soft and gentle on the skin. They are super high quality and have the wetness indicator line that I have grown to love with Grey’s diapers. They are also really absorbent while still being breathable which is perfect for our hot summers here in Houston.
You can buy them at Walmart or Walmart.com and don’t forget to search #MothersPromise to see what some other moms have to say about them!
I am also going to share a tutorial with you today!
In order to keep those promises fresh on my mind, I decided to make a bracelet with Grey’s name on it.
This bracelet was super easy to make and only required two things!
You will need:
– Braiding cord
– Alphabet beads
(Both can be found at Walmart)
1. Cut 9 pieces of the cord.
2. Tie them together at the top.
3. Start a braid. I sectioned mine by 3’s to make my braid a little bit thicker.
4. Once I got about a quarter of the way down my cord, I slid my beads on.
5. Finish braiding
6. That’s it!
I chose to just tie mine on my wrist but you could also buy some clasps if you wanted.
Let me know if you try this!
