Well, after a year of living two hours away from the beach…we finally drove down to Galveston to see what it was all about!
Grandma Nancy is here so we thought now would be the perfect time!
We had heard some not so nice things about it so we weren’t quite sure what to expect but it actually wasn’t bad at all.
Granted, it wasn’t the Caribbean but it certainly wasn’t the worst beach I’ve ever seen.
We did some shopping, ate at Bubba Gump’s, drove around the town and even stuck Grey’s feet in the sand for the first time!
It was a quick overnight trip but I’m glad we finally went.
Someone got a little too close to the wave!
Unfortunately, right after we got there, a 12 year old girl that was on a school field trip went missing in the ocean.
The search crews were out until dark with lifeguards, wave runners, boats and helicopters looking for her.
They found her body a couple of days later on the beach and my heart is just broken. Her family, friends, classmates and teachers are in our thoughts.
A good reminder to hug your loved ones close and count your blessings.
