Over the past nine months…I’ve shared a lot about my feelings towards becoming a mother. However, I realized we haven’t heard much from Kane. I asked him if he would answer some questions for this post…and being the good sport that he is, he agreed. The answers I got back were genuine, funny, a little inappropriate and real.
All words I would use to describe him.
1. What were your initial thoughts when I told you I was pregnant?
I had an immense feeling of being overwhelmed by fear/excitement; fear that I may or may not be a good dad and excitement for the chance…as well as the excitement to bestow my seed upon thy world. You’re welcome.
2. What has surprised you the most about pregnancy?
How easy going and chill Krista is. I’ve seen how she is on low-carb weeks for competitions so I know the dark side, rather she acted like an angel…plus her boobs got even bigger so that was awesome. I’m also surprised at how I’ve handled the surmounting stress of knowing that I will be responsible for another person’s life.
3. What has been your least favorite part about the pregnancy?
Watching Krista not feel well and knowing that there’s only so much chocolate, flowers, charm and off-angled back rubs I can do to help make her feel better.
4. What qualities or characteristics of yours do you want your son to have?
My ability to pick myself up, dust off; to still be utterly afraid and saddle up anyway. Or maybe to be the same person around different people, love tequila, be awesome…cool shit like that.
5. What qualities or characteristics of yours do you not want your son to have?
My stubbornness or fear of failure.
6. What scares you the most about becoming a father?
Not being a good one.
7. Are you ready?
Yes and no, but I wasn’t ready for college either and that turned out to be an amazing adventure. I wasn’t ever ready for football games or wrestling matches either; there’s moments when time pushes you through the open door whether you’re ready and you figure it out as you go…that’s what I’m counting on.
8. Any last words?
Krista is going to be an amazing mother. I can only hope to be able to match her as a parent. I also pray that I can only be a modicum of how great our parents were at raising us.
Thank you so much for answering these questions. I think they will be a lot of fun to look back on when we are old and gray. You are going to be a wonderful father and I cannot wait to see you take on that role!
I love you!
