How was your weekend?
As you can judge by the title of this post…ours was very interesting.
First of all, Kane’s cousin Cason just moved here!! (Say “Kane’s cousin Cason” three times fast). So we are very excited about that because it’s really nice to have family close by. He stayed with us over the weekend since his apartment wasn’t quite ready and we decided to take him out to dinner to one of our favorite places. So on Friday night the three of us went to P.F. Chang’s and had such an amazing dinner. They are always so great there! I remember one time Kane really liked his drink so the waiter went and printed out the recipe for him! And then on Friday he was asking our waitress what menu items were her favorite and she actually told him that she preferred a meal that wasn’t on the menu. So that’s exactly what Kane ordered and it was delicious! I might have to stray from my usual and get that next time. In case your curious…she said to order “Mongolian Beef Old School or Old Style” and they would know exactly what to make. She also mentioned you could order it with chicken or shrimp instead of beef if you wanted. (Kane got beef and it was fantastic). So moral of the story is that Friday night was great and we really enjoyed our dinner!
Fast forward to Saturday afternoon. Let me set this up for you:
Kane and Cason are in the living room watching YouTube videos…or playing a video game…or something.
I took advantage of this time to get a little housework done. I put a load of blankets into the washing machine…walked back to our bedroom to grab the vacuum…and walked back out to start vacuuming the kitchen.
Literally standing water. All over my kitchen making it’s way towards the wood floor in the hallway.
I just calmly say, “Umm…hey guys, there’s water everywhere.”
(And I have to give myself some props for this because I could’ve easily freaked the you know what out).
So we turned off the washing machine and grabbed as many towels as we could…and luckily we had some dry towels because I was planning on washing them before the blankets and that would’ve been a double disaster. Can you imagine? All of the towels in the washing machine that is flooding all over the place?
Anyways…we started soaking up as much water as we could with the towels and Kane headed to the store really quick to buy a shop vac.
I am soo thankful Cason was there! He was seriously the biggest help!
(Thank you again, Cason!)
After quite some time we finally got all of the water cleaned up and started investigating the washing machine.
This was about the point where I opened up a bag of chocolate chips and let the guys do all the work.
And they fixed it! It was just a small problem that lead to a huge disaster…but we are very glad that we don’t have to buy a new washing machine!
So needless to say Saturday afternoon was exhausting. It’s hard work for this 6 months pregnant lady to bend over and pick up water soaked towels over and over and over again!
But we managed.
So then it was Football Sunday!
It’s so funny because back when we had first started dating…I would roll my eyes and dread Football Sundays. I have never liked the game…obviously never understood how it was played and I just didn’t get it. That all changed last year though because Kane’s favorite team, the Miami Dolphins, was featured on Hard Knocks.
Hard Knocks is an HBO show where they follow one NFL team through training camp. They showcase a couple of players and you really get to see the ins and outs of the organization.
So Kane asked if I would watch it with him…and I obliged. And I actually ended up really enjoying it! They show a lot of the wives and families as well so it was a little bit of a reality show for me.
I really learned a lot about the game and the players from watching this so then I felt kind of invested in the team. I decided to start watching their games on Sundays with Kane and found myself looking for some of the players that I remembered from the show. I wanted to know if they were playing…if they were playing good…or if perhaps they had gotten cut.
I watched them play all season long. And I was honestly a little bit bummed when the season ended…and a little bit excited when this years season rolled around!
So Sunday was a sigh of relief. (Kind Of.)
On the one hand, we got to sit around all day and watch football. On the other hand, the Dolphins lost.
But it’s alright. There’s always next week!
My jersey had to be altered a tiny bit to accommodate this baby bump!
