I almost can’t believe I am writing this post.
I have never been a runner.
I have always hated running.
But at the same time I’ve always secretly wanted to be a runner.
When I was living in Montana…it was really easy to not run because our weather was so terrible for more than half of the year.
Now that I am in Texas…I can’t use that excuse anymore!
So I have started running!
(And just for the record…it is so much more motivating when the weather is nice)
My end goal for now would be to run a 5k…so I downloaded the “Couch to 5k” app.
So far I am in love with it!
It starts out super slow and you can go at your own pace.
The first week consists of three different walk/runs. You walk for 90 seconds and then run for 60 seconds…for a total of 20 minutes.
(With a 5 minute warm up and cool down)
I’ve tried doing intervals like this before but I always get so confused with the timing part.
I love this app so much because it takes all of the work out of it.
It tells you when to walk, when to run, when you’re halfway there and when you are finished.
It also has GPS so you can see the distance you’ve gone…plus your pace.
This photo is my first run last Monday compared to my third run on Friday.
As you can see I went a further distance and burned more calories in less time.
The distance is just from my walk/run.
The calories burned includes a short walk right after with the dogs.
I am so excited that I’m already improving!
Plus I am enjoying it! I really never thought the day would come that I would say I actually enjoy running.
If you are just starting to get into running…I highly recommend this app!
I think it was around $1.99 in the app store but totally worth it.
I’ll keep you updated on my progress…and hopefully I’ll be running a 5k in the near future!
