Today is a very special day.
Yes, it’s New Years.
But more importantly, it is Kane’s birthday.
In honor of his birthday…I thought I would share Part 2 of our love story.
Happy Birthday Kane Alexander…thank you for making all of my dreams come true!
I have decided to start writing our love story.
I have been reading a lot of them on other blogs lately and I just love the idea of having it written down somewhere.
I want to be able to look back at this when we are 50 years old.
I want our future children to be able to read it.
Plus, I’m already starting to forget some details…so I want to write it now…before I forget altogether.
I started part one with the story of the first time we met…that one time that Kane doesn’t remember.
You can read that here.
After that first night…I pretty much forgot about him.
I don’t mean that in a rude way…we just never really crossed paths again for the rest of that semester.
I moved away in December of that year to be closer to my parents.
I was going through some really hard personal transitions…I had just moved to a whole new state…I was away from my parents for the first time in my life… (I am a home body and this was incredibly difficult for me)…I hated college and I just wasn’t happy.
So I moved home.
(Not home, home…but to where my parents were currently living.)
Long story short, that didn’t help either.
I eventually moved back to the first place I was living and that is where part two of our love story begins.
I can’t remember who added who on Facebook or when it happened…and I tried to find out using the “see friendship” thing…but it doesn’t tell you that information.
However, I did find some really old posts and they are hilarious and incredibly lovey dovey.
Were we really that couple?! Are we still?!
It is also really weird to see us refer to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend! I am so used to calling him my husband now.
PS I encourage you to take a look back at your “friendship” with your significant other!
Anyways, moral of the story is that we were friends on FB and I started seeing some of his posts in my news feed.
I remember seeing one post and mentioning something about it to Kylie…in which she replied, “Who’s Kane again?”
Fast forward to about a week later…Kylie and I were finishing up a workout at our old college and in walked Kane.
We passed by him…I tried to say hi…he looked away.
And then I turned to Kylie and said,
“That’s Kane. And he just ignored me.”
We saw each other a couple more times at the college but didn’t speak.
I had tried saying hi once and wasn’t going to try again!
It wasn’t until I posted a picture of my sweet little Mia on Facebook that we really started talking.
Side note: Thank you FB for keeping all of these memories.
It’s so funny looking back at that conversation now considering we ended up with Mia and an English Bulldog.
After my last comment, he started a private message conversation with me that lasted 10 hours.
I tried looking it up but unfortunately my messages don’t go back that far.
I was working a 10 hour shift and he was at home…and we chatted the whole time.
I remember he asked me about my childhood, my fears, if I was seeing anybody, if I liked traveling…(to which I replied no…and I am so surprised he didn’t end things right then and there.)
I asked him the same questions…heard all about his red headed brothers…(I’m surprised I didn’t end things right then and there).
Our conversation ended with a movie date that same night and our very first kiss.
I know, scandalous!
Details on that in part 3…
