I have decided to start writing our love story.
I have been reading a lot of them on other blogs lately and I just love the idea of having it written down somewhere.
I want to be able to look back at this when we are 50 years old.
I want our future children to be able to read it.
Plus, I’m already starting to forget some details…so I want to write it now…before I forget altogether.
So…I am going to start today.
I think it would only be appropriate to start this story with the day that we first met.
Really, this has no relevance…
but I think it’s a funny story and I mean it was the first time I met my future husband.
The best part though is that Kane doesn’t remember it.
No, I am not kidding.
Rewind back to 2008.
He was a senior in college and I was a freshman.
We went to a pretty small college.
The kind where even if you had never personally met, you still knew of everyone there.
So…I basically knew who Kane was within my first month on campus…
a senior guy, played football, blonde hair, blue eyes.
I mean… how could I not know who he was?
But we had never actually met…until that one night…at that one party…
My best friend Kylie and I were going out to a party with a few of our guy friends.
I still remember it clear as day…
We pulled up to a house near campus,
walked in the front door only to be met with a beer pong table in the living room.
It must’ve been in October sometime because there was a Halloween bowl full of candy.
*I have told Kane all of these details…and yes that was his house…but no he still does not remember*
We turned left towards the kitchen and there he was…sitting in a recliner.
I could’ve swore he was dating a girl in my class.
I distinctly remember her telling me that she was dating Kane Nile.
He has no knowledge of this so called “relationship” they were in.
However, at that time, I thought they were together so I kept my distance.
We walked over by him and somehow got introduced.
Hi, I’m Krista…and this is Kylie.
Or maybe it went,
Hi, I’m Kylie…and this is Krista.
And then…in his deep, “I’m a senior and I play football” voice,
What’s up… I’m Kane.
We continued past him into the kitchen…and then took a shot of vodka…from a plastic bottle that had been in the freezer for who knows how long.
Like I said, we were freshmen.
And that was it.
Nothing too crazy.
Nothing super romantic.
But I will say, that was the start of my crush.
Sorry if you were expecting some epic “fell in love at first sight” kind of story.
It gets better… I promise.
Little did I know what would happen two years later…
Stay tuned for part 2!
