It is already September! Time sure has been flying lately. I’m okay with it though because I think fall is my favorite season! I am so ready for warm hoodies, the fireplace, hot coffee all day, warm socks, snuggling, and lazy days! (Okay let’s face it…I still do all of this stuff on a daily basis but it feels more appropriate in fall!)
With that being said, it is time for my August Favorites!
My first favorite this month is definitely homemade protein bars! I started making these about half way through the month and they are so good. I have tried the pumpkin bars and the carrot cake bars. Kane and I both agreed the pumpkin ones tasted better. I individually wrap them in their portion sizes so that we can grab them on the go. Jamie uses baby food to add moisture and flavor since there aren’t any yucky ingredients added. What a genius idea!
My next favorite are my zip up hoodies from the Victoria’s Secret PINK collection. I’ve had these for a while but I have really started wearing them recently. These have got to be the most comfortable sweaters ever! I have one in pink and one in blue…and don’t be surprised if I get some other colors as well 😉 These are great for those days when it is just a little chilly outside and so perfect for traveling!
I also got new makeup this month. The makeup is by Glo Cosmetics and I am absolutely in love with it. The coverage is amazing but you don’t feel like you have a caked on face! It is a pressed powder (they make loose too) and it makes my skin look flawless. I got the face primer, the foundation, the finishing powder and the concealer. I have been using Bare Minerals for years and the price of the Glo isn’t much more so I decided to make the switch. I am so glad that I did!
Another makeup product is one that I’ve had for over a year. I literally bought it on my 21st birthday while we were in Vegas. I turned 22 in July and still have a lot left! It is the NYX bronzer in the color #3. When I bought this, there was a really pretty picture of a scenery on it (basically the main reason I wanted it! ha) that has since been rubbed off though. I am really impressed with this stuff. It was a little on the expensive side at $16 dollars but if you consider how long I’ve had it, I think it’s a pretty good deal!
This next favorite is one that I never saw coming…it is my curling iron! For years I couldn’t curl my own hair. I always had to have someone else do it. Finally though, I have taught myself!! It’s actually getting easier and it only takes me about 10-15 minutes! Woo hoo! Plus my hubby loves it when my hair is curled so that’s a bonus!
My favorite books for this month are the Delerium series and the Divergent series. They are both about dystopian worlds and were really good reads! I am so bummed though because the third book in each series doesn’t come out until 2013. I highly recommend reading these books if you don’t mind waiting until next year for the stories to continue.
A tv favorite for this month has been Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Miami Dolphins. This is basically a reality tv show where they follow a team during training camp and you get a “behind the scenes” look at how everything works. Kane’s favorite team is the Dolphins so of course we watched every week!! I actually really got into it and now that I know some of the players, I’m excited to watch their games this season. (I NEVER saw that one coming!)
