In the beginning of our stay in St Lucia, we kept hearing about this tour called the “Joe Knows” tour. Everyone said it was a lot of fun and kept recommending it to us! We knew that we definitely wanted to get off the resort and go do something on the island so we figured we better see what the fuss was all about.
On Thursday morning, we met our tour guide in the lobby. Right off the bat we knew this tour was going to be fun! He was so nice and made us laugh the entire time we were driving to the harbor! Once we got to the harbor, we met up with the rest of the group from a different resort. For the tour, we had an option of two different speed boats. One of the boats was a smaller, more relaxed boat and the other was a bigger boat that they referred to as the “party boat”. So of course we hopped onto that one!! Right away they cranked up the music and started having a good time!
For the tour, we went along the coast of the island and they stopped at some of the historic parts to explain what it was. They were constantly telling us history of the island or cracking a joke.
Our first stop was at a different beach where we got into vans. From there, we drove through one of the villages up to a drive in volcano! Immediately we started smelling sulfur and they told us that we were safe because we could smell this. We got out of the van and walked down to these little ponds. We had to get into this dark black water to give each other mud baths!! It was so crazy. We couldn’t see anything in the water so we just had to reach our hands down and grab for mud! The mud and water were super hot but our bodies adjusted to it and it actually started feeling nice. We slathered each other in the smelly mud and then our tour guides took our pictures!
After that, we went to a different part of the pond to try and rinse ourselves off. We did as best as we could but that stuff was not easy to clean off! Then, we went to a waterfall to really get the mud completely off! The waterfall was so pretty and after being in the hot mud, it felt really good! We each took turns going under the waterfall and our tour guides took more pictures!
Once everyone was clean and dry, we went to an “authentic” restaurant for lunch. It was really good!! There was some unique dishes for us to try so that was a good experience!
After lunch, we got back onto the speed boats and headed over to the Piton mountains. These are pretty famous over in St Lucia and we each got to get a picture in front of them!
After that we headed back to the resorts. About half way back, we stopped to snorkel! This was pretty fun and we saw some neat fish.
Once we were done snorkeling, they cranked the music again and we went back to the harbor! This trip was so much fun and we would highly recommend it to anyone going to St Lucia! They really do a great job of making it fun and we learned a lot about the island! I am so glad we decided to go on this trip…it’s something we will always remember! 🙂

I am so blessed to have been able to go on such a wonderful honeymoon. I have the best husband in the world and I can’t wait to discover and explore more islands with him!
